Research
I am interested in international migration, political sociology, and race and ethnicity.
My dissertation work currently studies how government, educational institutions, and industry collaborate to recruit and use foreign skilled labor for national development. I use the case of Taiwan’s explicit and targeted international student migration programs to investigate this.
My M.A. thesis examines the social exclusion of U.S.-raised East Asian and South Asian American men from women’s romantic preferences. I explore how these men construct dating preferences in response to their perceived undesirability as Asian American men in romance.
