Charlotte’s research focuses on reproduction, biomedical control and the social and institutional actors that shape the experiences of pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum. Specifically, she looks at how the degree of control of biomedicalization changes in the context of crisis, and how birthing people navigate, accept or resist biomedical expansion. Her current research uses qualitative methods to analyze how the COVID-19 crisis has impacted the experience of reproduction in the US.
