Research

I am doing research on labor migration in East and Southeast Asia; in particular, I am interested in patterns of labor migration and migrant workers’ transnational experiences from China and Southeast Asian countries. I seek to understand these topics by analyzing immigration and emigration policies of states, migration industries, and the changing familial and social contexts that migrant workers are embedded in. My dissertation looks at the implementation of Japan’s Technical Intern Training Program (TITP) and the Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) Visa Regime.
